The Great White Shark may be the most famous type of shark in the world. It is definitely the largest living carnivorous fish being able to grow as large as 18 feet. Their usual diet consists of seals, small whales, sea turtles, and fish. They usually like to hunt prey by ambushing them, swimming from below at high speeds. They can move extremely fast and can fly up and out a few feet above the surface of the water. With a heightened sense of smell, it lets them detect blood from up to 3 miles away. They can live up to 70 years old but are on the endangered list due to overfishing.
The Great White can be found in regions like Western US, S. Africa, Japan, Chile, the Mediterranean and Australia. The modern Great White first appeared 11 million years ago.
