This pen is particularly special as the spalted koa wood was a gift from a family friend. It was a small, yet beautiful piece that truly showcases the beauty of koa wood. Spalting is a process in which fungi cause the coloration of rotting wood to change. In this case, the grain of the koa is more pronounced. Yet, it does not detract from the ripple of the curl that is also present in the wood.
Kilakila describes majesty and grandeur, used often to describe breathtaking scenery or of people of great renown. We hoped to capture this sense of magnificence within our designs.
An extra black fine point Schmidt 888 roller ball refill will be included
Please note that our pens are made of all natural woods and our own resin mix. Although similar, no two will be exactly alike.
